Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Ruty collects, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. It applies to ruty.io and the Ruty web application.

Who we are
Ruty ("Ruty", "we", "us") provides SaaS dispatch and shipment-tracking software for trucking, freight, and logistics teams operating in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. When a dispatch company signs up for Ruty, that company is the controller of the data it uploads about its drivers, customers, trucks, and shipments. Ruty acts as the processor of that data on the company's behalf.
Information we collect
Account information
Name, email, password (stored hashed), workspace name, role inside the workspace.
Workspace content
Records you create about shipments, customers, drivers, trucks, and uploaded documents (including driver's license images, bills of lading, proofs of delivery, and shipment notes). These records are visible only to members of your workspace.
Payment information
Subscription billing is handled by Stripe. Card numbers are entered directly into Stripe's hosted fields and never touch Ruty's servers. We store only a Stripe customer reference, subscription status, and the last four digits / brand of the card when Stripe returns them.
Optional integrations
If your workspace connects a GPS / ELD provider (such as Samsara, Motive, Geotab, or Monarch), we receive vehicle location, status, and event data for the trucks you choose to sync. This data is used to power the shipment-tracking experience and is retained per the limits described below.
Customer-facing tracking pages
When you share a public tracking link, the recipient sees only the limited shipment information you choose to expose. We log basic request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) to protect the link against abuse.
Diagnostics
We collect application error reports and basic usage events to keep the product working. We do not sell this data and we do not use it for cross-site advertising.
How we use information
- Provide, secure, and improve the Ruty service.
- Authenticate users and enforce workspace access controls.
- Process subscription payments and prevent fraud (through Stripe).
- Send transactional emails (sign-in links, invitations, billing receipts).
- Respond to support requests and security reports.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Workspace isolation
Every record you create in Ruty is scoped to your workspace. Row-level security policies in our database, together with checks in the application, ensure that members of one workspace cannot read or modify data belonging to another. Driver's license images and other internal documents are restricted to the shipment owner within your workspace and are not exposed on public tracking links.
Subprocessors
We rely on a small number of vetted service providers to operate Ruty, including hosting, database, authentication, payments, and email delivery. The current list is maintained at /subprocessors.
International transfers
Ruty is operated from the United States. If you or your customers are located in Canada or Mexico, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on contractual safeguards with our subprocessors and on the consent you provide when you create a workspace to make these transfers.
Retention
We retain workspace content for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period after cancellation to allow recovery. You can request deletion of your workspace at any time by contacting your workspace administrator, who can submit the request to us. Backups are rotated on a rolling basis and overwritten in the normal course of operations.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Residents of California (CCPA / CPRA), Canada (PIPEDA), and Mexico (LFPDPPP) have specific statutory rights that we honor. To exercise any of these rights, contact your workspace administrator or write to us at the address below. We do not sell personal information and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
We use industry-standard administrative and technical controls, including encryption in transit, scoped access tokens, row-level security, and least-privilege service credentials. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact your workspace administrator immediately.
Children
Ruty is a business tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify workspace administrators by email.
Contact
Privacy questions and requests can be sent through your workspace administrator, who can escalate them to the Ruty team.
